Li-Fi . . . . . . . . A Brief description For a Huge Technology
What is Li-Fi ?
LiFi is a wireless optical networking technology that uses light-emitting diodes (LEDs) for data transmission. LiFi is designed to use LED light bulbs similar to those currently in use in many energy-conscious homes and offices. Expect to hear a whole lot more about Li-Fi - a wireless technology that transmits high-speed data using visible light communication (VLC) - in the coming months. With scientists achieving speeds of 224 gigabits per second in the lab using Li-Fi earlier this year, the potential for this technology to change everything about the way we use the Internet is huge.
Li-Fi was invented by Harald Haas from the University of Edinburgh, Scotland back in 2011, when he demonstrated for the first time that by flickering the light from a single LED, he could transmit far more data than a cellular tower. Think back to that lab-based record of 224 gigabits per second - that's 18 movies of 1.5 GB each being downloaded every single second.
HARALD HAAS said “ Li-Fi works in similar way to Wi-Fi except it doesn't use radio for data communication. It uses LED lights. LED lights are little electronic devices, a little bit like transistors. And it allows us to change the intensity, the brightness of the light, and these changes encode binary information - ones and zero - in a very, very fast, fast manner”.
Benefits of LiFi:
- Higher speeds than Wi-Fi.
- 10000 times the frequency spectrum of radio.
- More secure because data cannot be intercepted without a clear line of sight.
- Prevents piggybacking.
- Eliminates neighboring network interference.
- Unimpeded by radio interference.
- Does not create interference in sensitive electronics, making it better for use in environments like hospitals and aircraft.
Li-Fi could also serve as just another connection point. Today, smartphones skip from cellular to Wi-Fi, depending on which connection is best, but in the future, Li-Fi could be part of that mix, too.

Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam- A True Legend
Life of Avul Pakir Jainulabdeen Abdul Kalam
15 October 1931 :
Born to a Tamil Muslim family in Rameswaram in the Indian state of Tamil Nadu. His father's name was Jainulabudeen, a boat owner, and his mother Ashiamma, a housewife.
1954:
He graduated in physics from University of Madras.
1955:
He went to Madras to study Aerospace Engineering.
1960:
Graduated from the Madras Institute of Technology and joined the Aeronautical Development Establishment of the Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) as a scientist. He started his career by designing a small helicopter for the Indian Army, but remained unconvinced by his choice of a job at DRDO.
1969:
Kalam was transferred to the Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) where he was the project director of India's first Satellite Launch Vehicle (SLV-III) which successfully deployed the Rohini satellite in near-earth orbit in July 1980.
In 1963–64, he visited NASA's Langley Research Centre in Hampton, Virginia, Goddard Space Flight Centre in Greenbelt, Maryland and Wallops Flight Facility. Between the 1970s and 1990s, Kalam made an effort to develop the Polar Satellite Launching Vehicle (PSLV) and SLV-III projects, both of which proved to be successful.
1970:
Kalam also directed two projects, Project Devil and Project Valiant, which sought to develop ballistic missiles from the technology of the successful SLV programme.
Kalam served as the Chief Scientific Adviser to the Prime Minister and the Secretary of the Defence Research and Development Organisation from July 1992 to December 1999.
In 1998, along with cardiologist Soma Raju, Kalam developed a low cost coronary stent, named the "Kalam-Raju Stent".In 2012, the duo designed a rugged tablet computer for health care in rural areas, which was named the "Kalam-Raju Tablet".
2002:
Kalam served as the 11th President of India, succeeding K. R. Narayanan. He won the 2002 presidential election with an electoral vote of 922,884, surpassing the 107,366 votes won by Lakshmi Sahgal. He served from 25 July 2002 to 25 July 2007.
Post-presidency
After leaving office, Kalam became a visiting professor at the Indian Institute of Management Shillong, the Indian Institute of Management Ahmedabad and the Indian Institute of Management Indore, an honorary fellow of Indian Institute of Science, Bangalore,Chancellor of the Indian Institute of Space Science and Technology Thiruvananthapuram, professor of Aerospace Engineering at Anna University and an adjunct at many other academic and research institutions across India. He taught information technology at the International Institute of Information Technology, Hyderabad and technology at Banaras Hindu University and Anna University.
In May 2012, Kalam launched a programme for the youth of India called the What Can I Give Movement, with a central theme of defeating corruption. He also enjoyed writing Tamil poetry and playing the veenai, a South Indian string instrument. He was nominated for the MTV Youth Icon of the Year award in 2003 and 2006.In the 2011 Hindi film I Am Kalam, Kalam is portrayed as a positive influence on a poor but bright Rajasthani boy named Chhotu, who renames himself Kalam in honour of his idol.
In 2011, Kalam was criticised by civil groups over his stand on the Koodankulam Nuclear Power Plant; he supported the establishment of the nuclear power plant and was accused of not speaking with the local people.The protesters were hostile to his visit as they perceived to him to be a pro-nuclear scientist and were unimpressed by the assurances provided by him regarding the safety features of the plant.

While delivering a lecture on Livable Planet Earth at Indian Institute of Management Shillong on 27 July 2015, Kalam suffered a severe heart attack at around 6:30 p.m IST. He was rushed to the Bethany Hospital in a critical condition; despite efforts to revive him, he died of cardiac arrest at 7:45 p.m IST.

Windows 10 has an official launch date of July 29th, 2015. That’s only a few days away, and to make sure everyone who’s running Windows 7 or 8.1, now, gets the free upgrade asap, the company started rolling out a software-based reservation system.
If you haven’t noticed it yet, look in your system tray, and you should see a Windows flag icon like shown below. Connect to the internet if you haven't done from a long time.
Clicking that will launch the “Get Windows 10″ app and you just need to follow through the wizard, and that will prepare your system for the upgrade when it’s ready to install on July 29th.
It will ask for your email address if you want to get a confirmation, but you can completely skip this step, too.
Annoyingly, this icon stays in your system tray even if you reserve your upgrade. To get rid of it, open Programs & Features > View Installed updates and uninstall KB3035583. The easiest way to find it is to use the Search box as shown below. You will need to restart your computer after uninstalling the update.

Porting Procedure for Subscriber
- Contact the new mobile Service Provider to whom you want to port your mobile number.
- Read the eligibility and other conditions carefully. Please visit www.trai.gov.in for further details.
- Obtain Customer acquisition Form (CAF) & Porting Form.
- If eligible, Obtain 'Unique Porting Code' by sending an SMS from the mobile number you want to port to the number '1900' with text 'PORT' followed by space followed by your 10 digit mobile number you want to port.
- Fill up the CAF and Porting Form.
- Submit the duly filled Porting Form and CAF along with requisite documentary proof of the mobile service provider.
- If you are a post paid subscriber, submit a paid copy of the last bill issued along with the Porting Form and CAF.
- Obtain new SIM card from the new service provider.
Activation of Ported Number
- Subscriber new mobile service provider will intimate you the date & time of porting on your mobile phone.
- Replace the old SIM with the new SIM provided by your new mobile service provider after the specified date and time.
Eligibility and other Conditions for Porting a Mobile Number
- Subscriber is allowed to move to another mobile service provider only after 90 days of the date of the activation of that mobile connection or from the date of porting of the mobile number, whichever is applicable.
- Subscriber is allowed to change mobile service provider within the same service area only.
- If you are a Post-paid subscribers, please ensure that you have paid all the dues as per your last bill (subscriber will have to sign an undertaking in the Porting Form also).

Samsung Galaxy Grand 2 launched
Samsung has launched its successor of the Galaxy Grand 5 incher today. The Galaxy Grand 2 is a 5.25 incher with a faster processor under its hood.
Today at an event in India Samsung launched the Galaxy Grand 2 for the domestic market. The affordable big-screen phone was launched by the Dedh Ishqiya actress Huma Qureshi today. We bring you a review of Galaxy Grand 2 today, while also comparing it with the Galaxy Grand and Galaxy Grand Quattro.
Better display
On the display front the Galaxy Grand 2 (GG2) takes a lead with a bigger and better display. At 5.25 inches display it is bigger that the Galaxy Grand (GG) launched in January this year and Galaxy Grand Quattro (GGQ) launched in May this year. It also boasts a 720 p display with a display resolution of 1280 x 720 pixels. The 4.7 inch GGQ and 5 inch GG manage with a 480 x 800 pixels display resolution.
We are yet to know if Samsung has added a screen protector on the phone. As per the launch news released by Samsung this November, the phone does not come with a screen protector.
Profile: Thin and soft
The GG2 is the thinnest of the three GG phones in the series. It is just 8.9 mm thin which is lesser than the 9.6 mm GG and 9.7 mm GGQ. The GG2 comes with a stitched leather texture on the back that made a debut on the Galaxy Note 3. This also gives it a soft touch feel which the other two on GG lack.
What is interesting is that the extra display size and a powerful processor do not add to the weight of the phone. The GG2 weight just 1 grams more than the GG which is 162 grams. Also it will be available in a flirty pink colour options (like the Galaxy Note 3) apart from Black and White.
Processor power
While Samsung went with a dual core 1.2 GHz processor for the GG and GGQ, it has kept the same 1.2 GHz processor (a Cortex A7) for the GG2. There is a better RAM with 1.5 GB, an improvemnet of the GG's 1 GB. But the company maintained the same 8 GB internal memory with the phone. That’s the same across all the three GG devices. But here you can expand it by 64 GB using a micro SDcard.
Camera and battery
Samsung carries the GG camera to the GG2. It’s the same 8 megapixel camera. The fount camera is also a 1.9 mp one. The primary camera sports feature like Best Face, Best Photo and Continuous Shot.
The battery is an improved one at 2600 mAh to support the large screen and more processing power.
The catch is here
The catch is in its OS. It sports the Android 4.3 Jelly Bean OS with features that come with the Galaxy Note 3. The latest Android OS is supported by a interface that gels with the premium features on this phone. Story album, S translator, S travel
, sound and shot, Samsung hub, group play, Samsung link and other premium features that also come in the flagship Galaxy S4 and Galaxy Note 3, come with the GG2

The company also offers free three month access to Club Samsung that has got entertainment, movies, music, gigs, live shows content.
But the price is a deterrent
We expected it to be launched at Rs. 21500, same price at which the GG was launched in January. But the company has maintained a price bracket of Rs. 22990 and Rs. 24990 for the phone. The correct price is not yet revealed. The company has also not revealed about any freebies or cloud storage with the Grand 2.
It will be available in stores in January. That’s the time when Intex i17 and Canvas 5 are also set to make a debut While Intex i17 octa-core will come at Rs. 20K, the Canvas 5 will also come at a similar price making it difficult for the Galaxy Grand 2. The competition will be stiff for the Grand 2 to make a mark. We will have to wait and see if the Grand magic that worked in 2013 also works for Samsung in 2014.
