It seems like every few months Facebook changes its privacy settings and unlocks a bunch of your previously hidden (or semi-hidden) information. This week, Facebook is tweaking Graph Search so that it can search posts, photos, check-ins, and comments. Basically, any word you’ve written on Facebook.com is now searchable.

Of course, we’ve already posted some in-depth guides for sanitizing your Facebook, but with the company’s frequent, rapid-fire changes, you can’t be expected to parse through your settings every time Zuckerberg wants a new feature. Ain’t nobody got time for that. Luckily there is an easy way to get your profile back to respectable status in about 30 seconds. Here’s how you do it:
You’re looking for the Activity Log settings on your profile page. Click the gear next to it and navigate to Timeline Settings. On the next page, the left side navigation bar will have a Privacy menu. Click on that, then on the right-hand side there will be an option to Limit Past Posts.
Now your posts that used to be public are limited to just your friends. It’s not the ultimate lockdown solution, but it will prevent John Q. Poke or Future Employer No. 3 from finding your beer bong mementos from college — and now you can go on with your life.
